To RESPOND to the HEALTH NEEDS of members -(Students, Staff and dependants) through health promotion, disease prevention, prompt curative and rehabilitative services (backed by adequate referral support services).
Over the years, the laboratory has been well equipped. The pharmacy is now well stocked since the U.H.S introduced and operated a “no out of stock policy”. The Pharmacy adheres strictly to the NHIS Essential Drug List.
UHS has board-certified Medical officers with bias in fields like Family Medicine, Community Medicine, General Practice and Managerial Psychology. There are adequate registered Nurses. The Nurses have at least 10 years clinical care experience and have double qualification (General nursing and midwifery). The Doctors and Nurses work with other clinical staff- the UHS has qualified laboratory Technologists, Council-registered Pharmacists, board registered Physical Therapists and qualified Optometrists. The backup team consists of registered Medical Social Workers, Health Information Officers and Public Health Educators. Assistant Chief Health Officers oversees the Environmental Health unit of the health services. UHS also has auxiliary staffs which Includes administrative officers, orderlies, porters and ambulance drivers. Staff orientation is conducted with special emphasis on quality and safety. The University Health Service provides preventive, curative and environmental health services to all registered students, as well as to all members of staff and their dependants.
The University Health Centre is located on Jaja Avenue. It is made up of a Records area, two big general waiting rooms, seven consulting-rooms, a large and a small laboratory, a pharmacy, two recovery rooms, two injection rooms, a minor operation theatre, an X-ray unit, a health visitors' clinic in two rooms, store rooms, various general offices for administrative staff and one Director's Office.learn more
In addition to a compulsory medical screening of students, the U.HS now offers the following services:
General out patient clinic (8: 30 am to 4:00pm]Monday to Friday excluding public holidays) by appointment or walk-in.
1. Mental Health Clinic:- With a Visiting Psychiatrist Wednesday[ 8:30am to 4:00pm.]
2. Surgical out-patient /orthopedic clinic with a Visiting Orthopedic Surgeon Tuesday [12noon – 3:00pm]
3. Dental Clinic and Diabetic Clinic, are scheduled to take off in January 2012, the Visiting Consultants have been nominated. .

Immunization, Infant and maternal clinics, Family Planning Services, Control of Infectious and Communicable Diseases.
Basic Laboratory services for primary and secondary levels of care.
For counseling,student support, situational crisis management,referrals, home visits , issues of sex and sexualities.
UHS provides visual care, free medical eye screening, refractive errors correction through the prescription of glasses and first- aid treatment of eye emergencies.
Quarterly health reports are forwarded to management reflecting hospital attendance /Utilization Records in the OPD, various Health posts including the Sports Clinic admission/discharge records. Disease pattern and suggestions / interventions are also included in the report.
